The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an umbrella organization of over 230 national diabetes associations in 165 countries and territories. Not only the organization represents the interests of the growing number of people with diabetes, but also those at risk.
Furthermore, the IDF’s mission is to promote diabetes care, prevention, and a cure worldwide. Also, the organization takes action to tackle diabetes from the local to the global level. It organizes different programs at the community level for worldwide awareness and advocacy initiatives as well.
Every year, a Youth Leadership Camp (YLC) is organized in close collaboration with the Member Association. It is a great opportunity for young people who have diabetes and are actively engaged with their Association to improve their leadership skills. Moreover, it is a chance for all of us to learn about advocacy through IDF Europe activities.
This year, the camp will take place in Srby, a small town close to Prague, the Czech Republic. It will last 6 days, from the 8th until the 14th of July 2018. I am so happy that I have a chance to participate in the camp.
Do you imagine how do I feel at this moment? Excited and happy at the same time. At that moment I know that I am not the only person with diabetes in the world. That is why I am looking forward to meeting new friends from across Europe. I consider this camp a great opportunity to gain knowledge and share my inspiration with the rest of the participants.
Last, but not least, I can’t wait to make the change I want to see in the world.
The IDF Europe Youth Leadership Camp can start! 🙂 And I am looking forward to having the best time in Prague. 🙂 See you soon guys! 🙂
